Saadiyah Darus born in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia, received her primary education from Treacher Methodist Girls Primary School, Taiping. Her secondary school was Maktab Rendah Sains MARA, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. She was one of the pioneer batch of girls at MRSM. Her 'A'-levels was at Aston College, Wrexham, Wales, U.K. She studied her first degree at Southampton University and her Masters at Nottingham University, U.K. Her Ph.D was from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia).
